Clinical Supervision

I am knowledgeable integrative therapist with experience with 1800+ client hours. I have experience in the occupational health and wellbeing sector. I work with UK EAP organisations and I have a well-established private practice where I offer face to face, online and tele-therapy sessions with clients 12+.

I provide supervision for trainee and qualified counsellors as-well as workplace supervision in the public sector.

I use the seven eyed model of supervision as its relational nature builds an effective alliance from the outset. Working within the parameters of professional frameworks is imperative but more importantly supervision needs to be a place where you feel heard, valued, and supported so you are confident to deal with the demands and challenges that your role brings. Working collaboratively in a supervisee-centred way will positively empower you to grow and develop both personally and professionally.

Positive supervision experiences are characterised by several key factors that contribute to a supportive and nurturing environment for growth and development. Some of these characteristics include:

1. **Clear Communication:** Effective communication between the supervisor and supervisee fosters clarity, understanding, and mutual respect. Clear expectations, feedback, and guidance enhance the supervision process.

2. **Empathy and Support:** A supportive supervisor demonstrates empathy, understanding, and encouragement towards the supervisee. Providing emotional support and validation creates a safe space for open dialogue and reflection.

3. **Constructive Feedback:** Constructive feedback is essential for growth and improvement. A positive supervisor offers specific, constructive feedback that is focused on strengths, areas for development, and actionable steps for improvement.

4. **Respect for Diversity:** Acknowledging and respecting the diversity of perspectives, backgrounds, and experiences enriches the supervision experience. A positive supervisor values inclusivity and cultural sensitivity in their interactions with supervisees.

5. **Professional Development:** A positive supervisor is committed to the professional development and growth of the supervisee. They provide opportunities for learning, skill-building, and career advancement, and encourage self-reflection and ongoing learning.

6. **Collaborative Approach:** Collaboration between the supervisor and supervisee promotes shared decision-making, mutual learning, and problem-solving. A positive supervisor values the input and contributions of the supervisee and fosters a collaborative working relationship.

7. **Trust and Confidentiality:** Building trust and maintaining confidentiality are fundamental to a positive supervision experience. A supervisor who demonstrates integrity, honesty, and confidentiality creates a safe and secure environment for open discussion and exploration.

8. **Flexibility and Adaptability:** Recognising the individual needs and preferences of the supervisee, a positive supervisor demonstrates flexibility and adaptability in their supervisory approach. They adjust their style and methods to accommodate the unique circumstances and preferences of the supervisee.

9. **Reflective Practice:** Engaging in reflective practice promotes self-awareness, critical thinking, and professional growth. A positive supervisor encourages supervisees to reflect on their experiences, challenges, and learning goals, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.

10. **Ethical Standards:** Upholding ethical standards and professional integrity is paramount in supervision. A positive supervisor models ethical behaviour, adheres to ethical guidelines and standards, and addresses ethical dilemmas with transparency and integrity.
